Supporting the Development of an Investment-Ready Radiotherapy Project in Comoros
15 December 2024 — Although our primary focus is energy, our work is grounded in analytical methods applicable across sectors. This capability is central to our identity and increasingly relevant as countries tackle interconnected challenges. Our recent contribution to strengthening cancer care planning in the Union of the Comoros illustrates this breadth.
Gréoux Research recently supported the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) regional programme to enhance cancer diagnosis and treatment capacities across Africa. As part of this effort, we assisted national stakeholders in preparing a strategic, investment-ready feasibility document for the establishment of the country’s first radiotherapy centre.
Our role focused on translating a complex set of public health needs into a coherent and financially sound project proposal. Working closely with local teams and IAEA specialists, we contributed to the development of cost estimates, financial projections and a cost-benefit analysis aligned with the country’s cancer burden and long-term system needs. This involved analysing projected patient flows, estimating operating requirements and supporting the development of economic indicators used to assess the broader societal value of improved access to treatment.
Our support helped structure a document designed to guide future investment decisions, laying the foundations for a treatment facility that could reduce the need for costly medical evacuations and provide life-saving care closer to home. The Comoros initiative reflects our broader commitment to supporting countries as they strengthen critical public services through rigorous analysis, clear evidence and decision-ready insights.
